Nacre is an interactive installation, proposed by pulpocollective as for the light section of VividFestival | Sydney 2018

Nacre, also known as mother of pearl, is an organic-inorganic composite material produced by some molluscs as an inner shell layer; it also makes up the outer coating of pearls. It is strong, resilient, and iridescent.

Inspired by the nature of nacre, this installation is a luminous base for modules, inspired by Sydney's seashell creatures. As sea tide has a great affect on the life of shellfish, the installation is ehenced with 3 wirelessly connected sensors measuring the tide of the sea, an changing the light values accordingly to generate the light effect. The color palet for this project is bound to the magical spectrum of iridescent shell material.
